Mentari Nusantara Airlines uses a single A321 and five MD-80s as well as a single DC-9Srs50 and are all operated on behalf of Sparrow Air. Additionally, Jetstream 32/41s are operated on rural and regional services. MNA developed a network in the interest of Sparrow Air, providing additional conections, the majority of them are regional and rural services.

MNA is the largest operator of the Jetstream. These aircraft provide all features of a full-size airliner with a galley and lavatory.

Our aircraft provide the following capacities:
Jetstream 32: 19 passengers
Jetstream 41: 29 passengers
DC-9-51: 135 passengers
MD-81/-82/-88: 170 passengers
A321: 220 passengers

The MD-80 features 170 seats and this ensures a very high efficiency and profitability due to rather low cost on a per seat basis. The 220-seat A321 is able to produce the lowest costs per seat in MNA´s fleet, but the overall results show, that the MD-80 is perfectly sized and generates the highest level of profitability. The DC-9 is part of MNA´s fleet due to shortage of suitable A32S and MD-80-aircraft. Due to similarities in maintenance, the DC-9 is part of the MD-80-fleet and can be operated profitably. We do expect high proifitability of the DC-9 when used correctly on routes with healthy demand. Technical and operational assistance is being provided by Sparrow Air.

After a successful IPO, MNA leased eleven additional DC-9s. These aircraft will be gradually and carefully introduced. All twelve DC-9s will be introduced into active service during October 2022.
