In order to optimize the travel-experience with Sparrow Air, the company evaluates upgraded configurations for even more comfort and positive reactions.
Thus, a number of MD-80s are used with an enhanced interior. Depending on the variant, the MD-80 will feature 107/137/142, or 144 seats.The removal of seats not only allows a higher seat-pitch but also minimizes any payload-restrictions imposed on longer sectors from Indonesia to Australia and India operated by our versatile MD-80s.

- retain high profitability
A major factor of our sustainable business is the utilization of McDonnell Douglas-products. All aircraft provide us with "calculated risks of their economics". The decrease of fuel costs helps Sparrow Air to generate high profitability by using MDs. Alle aircraft are owned and the recent outright purchase of leased Boeing 717s further enhanced the bottom-line even further. The Boeing 717 is - in our opinion - still one of the most economical aircraft in their class and provides sterling service.
The operational situation ensures that even the less efficient DC-9s are operated profitably. The largest version - the DC-9-50 - are rather economical due to the attractive capacity for 120 passengers and better distribution of operating costs on a higher amount of passengers.
